Penetrate The Ostensible
The war cry of the late lamented Barry Farber and ostensibly the credo of any ethical investigative journalist - Vale, John Pilger
A sad day, indeed - week - for journalism. Tragic.
Just learned from Celia Farber - the passing of the irrepressible John Pilger.
I just can’t get my head around the idea of John Pilger being “gone” - I mean, it was like he was an immortal voice of reason in this quagmire of journalistic sell-out. You could always rely on John to be there giving us the other perspective to balance the spin from the mainstream postmen.
He is - I struggle to say “was” - a pillar. Reliability and integrity personified and his fight for Assange’s justice was unrelenting.
2024 is poised to usher in change - we have all collectively pooled our conscious intent and petitioned with prayer but I never anticipated this. I’m devastated.
All I can hope for is that Celia, and others like her, continue to build on these legacies - Pilger and (although shamefully I admit I did not know) Kristina Borjesson... and continue to share their work as Celia has done with her recent homage to Pilger.
There is so much to be written, so much to be changed.
These journalists were forces for that change.
They will not be forgotten or go unheard or have reported in vain.
Vale, John Pilger, Kristina Borjesson - as with all of you who do what you do - Penetrate The Ostensible.
The vision of the factual Barry Farber (here) and the fictional Sherlock Holmes. It’s the subtext of every ethical investigative journalistic endeavour.
The Truth Barrier flies that flag.
