Ukraine virtue-signalling 101
...or how to hate Donald Trump just a little more without any real context...
To all the toadying Ukraine virtue-signalling sycophants....yes, you, Albanese, you little grub.
It's obvious that what's going down here is the populist view from the mainstream media and that puts this very grey picture into simplistic black-and-white, which it isn't.
The Tucker Carlson - Putin interview places a deal of context on the situation and the fact that he (Putin) wanted peace during the negotiations under the Minsk Accord, speaks volumes but this deal was scuppered by the US and the UK and the whole thing fell apart. They wanted it to. War was a very lucrative prospect at that time and Ukraine was a handy stepping stone for the inexorable eastern encroachment by the US.
Biden refused to sit at the negotiating table with Putin and continued to sabre-rattle, saying that they (the US) would not cease the war until Russia had been defeated and a regime change was underway. Facile, ridiculous statements but, along with the billions poured into this conflict, a strategy that has cost hundreds of thousands of lives - lives which could have been spared had Biden remained at the peace talks table - however, the easy conclusion is that as Putin is the aggressor, he is still at fault....say what?
And that lunatic, Zelensky, is acquiring billons of global dollars as the war machine rattles on. He is personally doing very nicely, thank you.
While nobody seemingly considers how belligerently and flagrantly the US thwarted the undertaking made by U.S. Secretary of State James Baker in his famous “not one inch eastward” assurance about NATO expansion in his meeting with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev on February 9, 1990. It was part of a raft of assurances about Soviet security given by Western leaders to Gorbachev and other Soviet officials throughout the process of German unification in 1990 and on into 1991 - all of which the US has reneged upon.
Bobby Kennedy nailed it when he said: Russia has “legitimate security concerns” about moving NATO into Ukraine, he said: “We would never let them put missile systems in Canada or Mexico, we would invade if they did.”
So, anyone who doesn't see these ongoing violations of the NATO agreements as a series of iterative aggressions by the US, then we are living in very different realities. While Zelensky has been party to it all, Biden and his mad sidekick endorsed it all and lied to the American public accordingly. It was the only way they'd garner the support of this wholly unsupportable war - a perpetual war.
So while the Ukraine frog in the slowly boiling water progressed by way of eastern encroachment and the placement of tactical missiles within the Ukraine, notwithstanding the debacle in the Donbas and the disenfranchisement of Russians in that region, everyone just saw Putin move into Ukraine when nobody listened to what he was saying. Back off or else. Ergo: Russia is wrong and Putin is the villain of the piece.
But everyone just jumps on the Ukraine virtue-signalling bandwagon because it's easy to hate everything Trump stands for or does whether or not he's actually on the side of peace, which Zelensky clearly isn't at the expense of his country and its people.
But hey, Trump must be wrong and Albo, has to be right too...and all the happy Ukraine flag-framing "I stand with Ukraine" Virtue-Signallers...
Pfffffftttttttt..... what a crock of bullshit.
Oh, and by the way…. this is an interesting take on the Trump / Vance / Zelensky encounter in the Oval Office earlier today: Michael McCune Facebook
